| Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Taken at base of lowermost bed of conglomerate within the Bayston-Oakswood Formation, immediately overlying the purple and grey mudstones of the Portway Formation. Believed to be an unconformable contact by certain authors. |
| Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Taken at the transition into coarse feldspathic sandstones and interbedded thin mudstones of the Bayston-Oakswood Formation. |

| Geographical Limits: |
Welsh Borderlands, specifically the Shrewsbury Sheet. Appears to pass laterally into the coarse sandstones of the Bayston-Oakswood Formation. |
