Where the Saughen Braes Lava Member is fully developed in the north-east of the area, it is underlain by the Burncrooks Volcaniclastic Member. |
| Definition of Upper Boundary: |
The Saughen Braes Lava Member interdigitates with the Auchineden Lava Member and in places underlies it (for example around [NS 443 772]). To the west of Lang Craigs [NS 430 760] the member is completely replaced by the Auchineden Lava Member. |

| Geographical Limits: |
Restricted to the Kilpatrick Hills, north-west of Glasgow, the unit occurs on Saughen Braes [NS 462 783], thinning out to the south near Fynloch [NS 458 793]. |
