Igneous intrusive boundary within Pennine Coal Measures Group, largely bedding parallel. Intruded at, or just above, the position of the Highley-Brooch Coal, with a boundary within dark grey unaltered mudstone at the type locality. |

Igneous intrusive boundary within Pennine Coal Measures Group, largely bedding parallel. Intruded at, or just above, the position of the Highley-Brooch Coal. Upper part is typically finely vesicular and overlain by calcareous sandstone. |

At least 15 m thick at Raggits Quarry, Knowle Hill [SO 693 818] and 7 m thick in the Claverley borehole (SO89SW/4) [SO 8035 9133]. |

Raggits Quarry, Knowle Hill, comprises at least 15 m of highly weathered and faulted vesicular basalt. The base of the sill is seen near the entrance of the quarry on the west side of Knowle Hill [SO 6927 8184]. Described by Whitehead and Pocock (1947). |
