Lithological Description: Friable, fine-grained yellow sand with occasional carbonaceous debris, in which cemented sandstone with horizons of nodular silicified sandstone, flame structures and a rich fauna of ammonites and bivalves are locally seen.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Overlies the Fascally Sandstone Member (FCYSD).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by the Brora Sandstone Member (BROSD).
Thickness: About 20 m.
Geographical Limits: Onshore area around Brora, on the Moray Firth, north-east Scotland.
Parent Unit: Clynekirkton Sandstone Formation (CYK)
