Gravel-dominated sequences forming mountain front alluvial fans, commonly cryoturbated. |
| Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Generally alluvial fan gravels of the Ballaugh Formation unconformably overlie mixed sequence of the Orrisdale Formation [qv] (though some fan gravels interdigitate with deposits of the Orrisdale Formation). In other exposures the fan gravels overlie Lateglacial organic sediments of the Glen Balleira Formation. |
