Africa Groundwater Atlas

This digital version of the Africa Groundwater Atlas can be used while you're offline. All the Atlas pages, text and diagrams can be viewed in this offline version. However, external web links from the offline Atlas will only work when you are connected to the Internet.

This version of the Atlas was saved on 1 September 2019. Any updates made to the online Atlas since this date will not be reflected in this offline copy.

You will need to install the free software package Kiwix to view the offline Atlas. This can be downloaded at http://www.kiwix.org/

How to access the offline Africa Groundwater Atlas on your computer:

  1. Go to the web address http://www.kiwix.org/ and download and install the version of the Kiwix software for your system (eg Kiwix for Windows).
  2. Download the file africanGroundwaterAtlas-Sept19.zim and open it using the software package Kiwix.
  3. If the file africanGroundwaterAtlas-Sept19.zim doesn't open automatically, start the software Kiwix.exe and go to File/Open file and choose africanGroundwaterAtlas-Sept19.zim.

The Africa Groundwater Atlas was developed by the British Geological Survey in partnership with the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) Burdon Groundwater Network for Developing Countries and groundwater experts across Africa. It was funded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council and UK Aid through the UPGro research programme.
