DIC_ROCK_ALL (3677 rows)
Dictionary table based on the entire version 3 of the BGS Rock Classification Scheme and is populated directly from the 3 supplying tables (BGS.ROCK_NAME_V3, BGS.ROCK_COMPOSITE and BGS.DIC_ROCK_DUMMY). It contains both the base rock names and addditional codes required for specific application, eg. composite names for use on digital geological maps. It is formally approved as the official source of ALL database codes to be used in BGS corporate databases and MUST be followed.

| 2902 | RODT | RN | Rodingites - A type of metasomatic-rock. They are rocks associated with serpentinites comprising Ca-rich minerals, for example Ca-pyroxene, grossular, hydrogrossular. They represent the Ca-rich fraction expelled during serpentinisation. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/02, section 8. | Rodingites | C | GRBA | 24-FEB-00 | TMCM | 22-FEB-19 | R | |
| 2903 | RRM | RN | Rock of restricted mineralogy - A type of coarse-grained normal crystalline rock. Igneous rocks of unusual composition can be formed by extreme versions of magma differentiation and fractionation. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/06, section 8.2. | Rock of restricted mineralogy | C | AWEL | 09-OCT-01 | TMCM | 22-FEB-19 | A | |
| 2904 | RY | RN | Rhyolite - A type of rhyolitic-rock. In the Rock Classification Scheme, this name is used for a fine-grained crystalline igneous rock when the modal mineralogy is available, and the mineral mode plots in field 3 of the quartz - alkali feldspar - plagioclase - feldspathoid (QAPF) diagram. It is the fine-grained equivalent of granite. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/06, section 5.2 and figs. 17a, 19. | Rhyolite | C | GRBA | 24-FEB-00 | TMCM | 22-FEB-19 | R | |

| 2907 | RYDA | RN | Rhyodacite - The term has in the past been used ambiguously for rocks of fields 3b and 4 of the quartz - alkali feldspar - plagioclase - feldspathoid (QAPF) diagram, and is permitted by IUGS for rocks transitional between rhyolite and dacite without attributing it to a distinct field. The name felsite is preferred if there is inadequate information to assign to a specific field. | 2914 | RYPK | RN | Rhyolite, peralkaline - A type of rhyolite (TAS). In the Rock Classification Scheme, rhyolite (TAS) may be classified as peralkaline if the peralkaline index is greater than 1. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/06, section 5.2. | Peralkaline rhyolite | C | AWEL | 18-JUN-04 | TMCM | 22-FEB-19 | I | U |
| 2915 | RYR | RN | Rhyolitic-rock - A type of felsite. In the Rock Classification Scheme, this class includes rhyolite and similar rocks. The term may be used as a field classification when an accurate mineral mode from thin section examination, or a chemical analysis, is not available.
